Recipe for a New Monster by M. Everett Hinckley © 2006
5 oz. blood
5 oz. sweat
5 oz. tears
5 oz. toil
* Assemble a host of complimentary ingredients for use in the rest of the meal. The need to please is spoiled when knives are at the ready. Sprinkle generously with kindness, integrity, and mercy.
* Cleanse all ingredients gently. Soiled appearances, with care, become immaculately groomed, he cleans up real good.
* Use care dicing. He can be tender but is desperately hoping to claw his way out of a miasma of witnesses and cacophony.
* Heat slowly. He is packing the Glock 9mm of a player but is bound to the Boy Scout code. The disposition is of a submissive with an attitude. Heat too quickly and the spell is broken.
* When over the fire, remove baggage. He is stripped bare of his masculinity, but expected to lead the dance. For best results, push the strengths, air necessary laundry, and let go the rest.
* Return to heat, fire is desirable. Fed up with the rules, he will invent his own and chase the winds that stoke the fire.
* Set aside preconceived notions. He is observant to a fault. Pigeon-holing will result in a soured stew.
* Place a reasonable amount of pressure with restraint, he is a Libra poised on a fulcrum, seeking the Magick and motion of dynamic balance. Easily tilted to far by strong emotions, he can become overcome or recalcitrant. Seek the middle ground.
* Add patience and forgiveness. He is tender but shrouded in a mood black as pitch, a magnificent void where few can tread. This is not withdrawal, but is a calling and must be accepted and observed from a safe distance.
* Bring to a simmer again. Delight will be found when he dances like a screaming Banshee in the dead of night.
* Cook covered. This is a corporate whore by day, but Gothic instigator by night. This volatility is to be expected, but adds wonderful aromas when boundaries are in place.
* Bring to a boil to appease all ingredients, but keep in mind the truth. This morsel is "Always a playground instructor, never a killer". Treat him as such.
* Stir in your own insanity. Madness loves company and birds of a feather can enhance this dish.
* If not thick enough, cook uncovered. He is 6' 2" in combat boots but can weep like a little girl. Provoke it when needed to enrich all.
* Add to taste, anything that seems incomplete. There is plenty of room for improvement and spontaneity.
* When the dish is served, tidy the kitchen, light the dinner candles, and smile in satisfaction that you are a master chef.
